Bad girl gone good?

The woman at the well has long been believed a sinner whom Jesus' forgave that became his first missionary to Samaria. It has consistently been interpreted as a classic bad girl gone good story. But, just as with Mary Magdalene there is no scriptural evidence that this water-drawing woman is a sinner or that Jesus forgave her. The only hint that she may have sinned is if we read it into the text when Jesus reveals she has had 5 husbands. The truth is that she was honest with Jesus when he told her to go and get her husband, and she said, “I have no husband”. Jesus answered, “ You are right when you say you have no husband.  18  The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” Even Jesus admits she has not lied.
