Divine Breath lends us life…
Every living being has breath exhaled from the Divine into their physical being, we call this our soul. In addition to our physical, psychological and emotional well-being, we need to nurture, nourish and keep our soul healthy. There are a multitude of ways this can be done. I like being in nature the best, secondly, I favor meditation, reading, but nothing beats the love of my friends and family.
What feeds your soul,
what keeps you growing in meaningful ways?
What enlivens your spirit and unites it to this world and the world
beyond? These are questions each of us
can usually answer pretty easily. But do you know the answers of the people you
love most? One of the riches of loving and being loved is recognizing another’s
inner being, their soul. It is a beautiful part of loving to help another grow spiritually.
But first we must appreciate their soul by recognizing their spiritual self.
Today, choose one person
you know and reflect on them as a spiritual being. Move beyond the physical,
emotional psychological being before you. Think about their spiritual journey. This
can be a family member, a friend, co-worker, neighbor or acquaintance. Then
tomorrow choose another, and then another.
The French philosopher and paleontologist, Pierre
Teilhard de Chardin said, ”We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience."
He believed the evolution of humans is
toward a single spiritual unity. Let us
begin by practicing how to see each other as the spiritual beings we are. Knowing
and nourishing each other as spiritual beings will make this world a whole lot
more beautiful, for in seeing each other as God sees us, we release Divine
breath inro the world.
